Equipment at Playa Vista Campus

EQUIPMENT LOAD-IN/OUT AT THE PLAYA VISTA CAMPUS

All requests to bring equipment, large props and set dressing in and out of the building must be reviewed and approved by PAT. There are two ways to load-in/out at PVC: 1) LMU parking cards provide access to the underground parking garage or 2) Brickyard Access Request Form (BARF) provides access to the loading area at the Jefferson Boulevard Entrance.

When students submit a Mazevo permit to film at the PVC, the permit is routed to PAT for approval. If you’re filming in a space at the PVC that is NOT stewarded by SFTV, such as a classroom or the Events Gallery (PVC 201), PAT is not made aware of your request because the permit is routed elsewhere for approval. We are reviewing film permits on the Mazevo Dashboard but it’s not a bad idea to reach out to TBD to coordinate your load-in/out.

Exception

Introductory level or productions with a smaller footprint may not need access to the underground parking lot or to the Jefferson entrance loading area. If a production can hand-carry equipment without the use of carts, dollies, suitcases (anything on wheels), a request for load-in/out access is NOT needed.

If a production, however, has a lot of equipment and props that will be transported on wheels, the student filmmaker is required to request access. Equipment cannot be wheeled through the 1st Floor Lobby.

LMU Parking Cards: Access to Underground Faculty/Staff Parking Lot

Three films per weekend will be able to drive a production vehicle into the PVC underground parking lot for unloading and loading of film equipment, props and set dressing. Priority for parking access will go to Intermediate and Advanced productions. Students will pick-up and return the parking cards to Aaron.Dowell@lmu.edu in Lighting and Grip.

Students will tap the LMU Parking Card at the Jefferson Entrance to gain access to the lower level parking lot. Only (1) vehicle per production can enter/exit and park in the PVC parking lot. No overnight parking is allowed at anytime.

Brickyard Access Request Form (BARF): Access to Loading Area

Students who are unable to obtain an LMU Parking Card will need to use the  Brickyard Access Request Form (BARF). All requests must be submitted 48-hours in advance of filming. Having a BARF parking reservation will allow you to:

  • Park in the Brickyard’s loading area near the large trash bins at the Jefferson Entrance while loading in/out.
  • Cart items through the P1 Parking Level and use the elevator in Core Lobby 1.

After unloading, vehicles should be moved to a secured parking location such as the Hannon Parking Lot on the Westchester Campus.

The LMU PVC Delivery Directions and Map outlines two pathways through the parking lot; 1) Parking in the parking lot and using Core Lobby 1 elevator and 2) Parking on Lake Center Drive and using the pedestrian walkway to get to the Core Lobby 1 elevator.

When a request for an LMU Parking Card or access to the loading area has been approved, a confirmation email will be sent.
