Location Managers

SFTV Location Manager Training and Duties

Starting Fall 2021, the position of LOCATION MANAGER will be required on most productions, specifically projects filming in locations other than your own home or on campus. This required position will help you better plan and organize your shoot days and is required to enforce the new insurance requirement of documenting your location before and after your shoot.

SFTV Location Managers will review the Location Manager Tutorial on Brightspace. Once you’ve logged into Brightspace, scroll down to Location Manager Training Tutorial to review the Location Manager Powerpoint Presentation. This non-quizzed material will familiarize Location Managers with SFTV requirements and best practices for a safe, successful shoot.

We recommend combining the position of Location Manager and Health Safety Supervisor.

SFTV Student Location Managers will assist the filmmaker by managing logistical matters during prep and production, including loading out and turning locations back over to site reps. Duties will include:

  • Assessing parking and carpooling arrangements
  • Coordinating with site reps for walk through, negotiating rates, and booking locations
  • Photographing locations during walk through with site rep, documenting pre-existing damage and photographing any damage that occurs during production

  • Designating holding areas for actors and staging areas for equipment and catering
  • Collaborating on the distancing floorplan
  • Creating a plan for restroom access, including TP, seat guards, and hand sanitizer needs
